We had gone through chemo with two of our Irish Setters, Piper and Vince, and would definitely do it again.
Piper had a good quality of life while she was on chemo for 16 months, however she was never able to go off the chemo for the remainder of her life. She always played and very rarely skipped a meal.
Vince, who is 5 ½ years, old has thyroid adenocarcinoma. His tumor was surgically removed and he went on a series of chemo treatments. He finished chemo one month ago and is now in remission. He will be checked regularly and if he stays in remission for 2 years he will be considered cured. He will be shown at the National Irish Setter competition shortly.
